Hello Everyone,
I had to re-install System Programmer from an XP machine to a Win 7. The installation seems to go well until I try to add a "New site", then an error window pops up with the following "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the app. will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the app. will close immediately."

"Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT:0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))

Any idea what to do next?

Thanks Brian,
I tried that, but windows 7 wont let me add the "ESI main.exe" file. From memory here....it says something like the program must have DEP.

That makes no sense, I usually make a new folder and put the programmer in it, then unzip the installer file to that folder and run it from there. But, I have noticed that you do have to disable the dep ( run a cmd prompt as administrator)

So I have been away from the office and thought that ignoring it would fix the issue...but to my (insert sarcasm here) astonishment it has not!

To recap:
I had to install system programmer on new Win 7 pc, when trying to connect new site this error appears:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_R_CLASSNOTREG)).

In details: See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I have tried to disable DEP first via the control panel, whereby the system told me that the the ESImain.exe "NEEDED" to have this on and would not allow me to disable.

Then I researched further and disabled via CMD prompt as Brian suggested, nothing changed, still getting same error and not able to program my site.

I am able to install the system admin program, but I loose alot of functionality in regards to programming and that causes issues with my executive suite tenants when they need to fix or change something.

I am happy to pay a consulting fee if this is a hard problem to resolve, and either way am VERY grateful for the help!

which version are you trying to install?

The Latest is 1.2.14.17

I would Uninstall it, and try again. Using the Latest Version.
I have installed it on many Customer's PC's running Win7.

First, uninstall the program. Make sure your .NetFramework is at least updated to version 3.5. If you have installed all the updates, you should have version 4.0 installed. Re-install System Programmer. Make sure ESI is in the User, Roaming Appdata of the Admin user of the computer. Also, if you are using a 64 bit machine, make sure you have Compatibility set to yes in Admin.

I'm with nonameyet, make sure you have the most recent version.

All of our PCs we use to run system programmer are Win7, and have not had issues installing the latest versions. We did have issues a while back with earlier versions.
