We are wanting to upgrade to have the ability to email voicemail .wav files to select email accounts. What equipment will we need to be able to do this. Where can we purchase? Thanks for your help.

If you are using an Axxessory Talk VM unit you probably already have the the ability. That unit comes with 5 licenses for "Level 1" Unified Messaging. At Level 1 all you are doing is emailing the .wav file. I have mine emailed to my cell phone. BTW,

How would I identify if we have the Axxessory Talk VM. Is this a card that is located in the main case unit or a card that goes in the CPU. I did check out the Email in DB and see all red X's. The company that sold this to us says that we will need an upgrade unit(?) that will give us this ability. WE may not have the correct CPU for this. Lost and looking to learn. Thanks, glad to have found (as we say in Texas) ya'll.

There is a little more to it than just setting up the email addresses. First of all you are going to have to go into Premium Features and enable Axxessory Talk Dial-Up/Email Networking. That will require 10 available units. You will also need to set up the system wide fields such as Email Gateway, SMDR server, etc. There is also a new Node that will be set up under Axxessory Talk in DB Studio. The "Network Type" will be set to "E-Mail."
Unified Messaging drives many Admin's crazy. It's not that difficult but Inter-Tel has not done a very good job of spelling it out in a step by step format. You will probably have to look up each different issue in your manual.

Well, I kind of disagree w/ yer post MacGyver. First off chuckintexas, you need to check to see if your voicemail is an external server or a card inserted in one of your PBX cabinets. The way to check is to follow the 15 pin cable from the front of the CPU to the other end. If it's a card, it will be labled 'EVMC' at the top of the card. If it's an external server, see if you can find out if the box is an OS/2 or NT box. If it's an OS/2 or EVMC, then you need to replace them w/ a new VM using NT or 2000 Pro in order to use any unified messaging capability.

Sorry Chuck. My bad. Foneguy is right. I was also answering a private email regarding a similar issue and I had it in my head this was an NT4 box. :bang:
Fortunately the Inter-Tel forum here is a great think tank and we have some awesome techs. That keeps a great system of checks and balances.
Let us know what you've got.

No problem MacGyver. Superfoneguy/MacGyver here is what I have found by examining the PBX Terminal and the CPU. There is not a Card labeled EVMC. The cable goes from the CPU to the PBX Terminal and card that is labeled CPU 128.
The CPU on the back has a label that states:
VPU/OS/2 Desktop 4 port 5.3.
I would say that this is OS2 and that we will need to upgrade to NT4 or W2000. Both of which I have as we have upgraded our servers to W2003. The CPU unit can be upgraded by me or are we entering into proprietary areas of Inter-tel or will Inter-tel or one retailers sell us just the software.

Well, I'm sure you are correct that the voice server is OS2. You can perform the upgrade yourself by building a server, but keep in mind that:
A. The rhetorix voice card and the AIC card are ISA, but they do work in a 2000 pro machine w/ ISA slots.
B. You need 5.3xx Voice Processing S/W. Pretty much a reseller/branch would be yer resource for that, though you may have a tough time getting them to sell you just the s/w.
C. W/O a reseller/branch doing the work, you would be on your own w/ no support if the project gets sideways.
