I have a problem with a strata dk280 system that I really hope someone can help with.

This system has been set up with a night mode button on the receptionists set that forwards all calls to a group of extensions when enabled. It is used when she goes home but there are still staff elsewhere in the building.

I really need to find out a way of reporting the list of extensions that ring on this group and also a way of amending the list to add a few more.

I have googled like crazy and read all the reference guides I can get my hands on but I cannot make any sense of them. Is there a simple programming code I can use to find these extensions out and amend them?

Thanks very much,

Keith

These people are not in a group, the individual stations are set to ring in night mode in station programming by individual extension.

In eManager you go to stations, select a station, and roll over the lines assigned in "KEY" the middle tab. Click on the line and select that line to ring on "NIGHT" or not.

You must do this for each extension that you want to ring or not ring.

eManager is not used for a DK280 as it is done using a 20 key display handset connected to the dedicated programming port.

If the key is assigned as a night key then you will have to go into the ringing assignments for night service and add the additional ports to ring for the same lines as the ones that are ringing currently.
eg if extn 202 rings for lines 1-4 in night only and you want 210 to ring also you have to enable lines 1-4 in night mode to ring at the port for extn 210.

The system is very old now and there are fewer techs who know how to do this. I suggest if you are unable to do this you contact some of the guys on here and get them to do it for you.
Do you have a modem on the system? if you do then someone will be able to reprogram it for you remotely so could be cheaper than a site visit for an engineer.

If you have a CTX or CIX system then eManager is a windows based programming tool and makes it a lot easier for people to make simple changes themselves on their systems.

Carlos,

Thanks for the reply. Is there any guidance available on how to edit the ringing assignments for night service? I have access to the PBX unit and have a suitable handset to program from.

As you said, it is a very old PBX and none of the local companies we have spoken to can support it.

I can't help a lot with specifics because it's been ages and my manuals are deeply buried or lost.
First, you absoulutely need the Programming manual, not just reference guides - at one point is was available from various sources as a PDF download, but I lost my copy 2 PC upgrades ago.

I can warn you of 2 "gotcha's" -

1) Programming is usually done by port number not by extension - on a default system port 000 is either extension 200 or 10; 001 would be 201/11 etc. Not so bad on a 3 digit system with an offset of 200, but with the 2 digit systems it is easy to make changes to ext. 30 when you thing you're working on ext. 20.

2) working with Lines you are usually selecting them with the 20 buttons/LEDs - For programming purposes, Line 1 is the bottom most button usually labled on the phone as Intercom, while Line 2 is the one above it usually labled "Line 1" - thus it is easy to turn on ringing for Lines 2-4 when you think you are doing 1-3.

There are 9 programs dealing with ringing assignments (81-89) 3 are for Day mode, 3 for Night mode and 3 more for an optional Day2/Night2. Each mode has an Immediate assignment as well as 2 delayed assignments. If I recall (which is asking a lot), 81 thru 83 are the Day mode - 84 thru 86 were the optional ones - and 87 thru 89 are the Night mode ones - verify with manual.

JK,

Thanks for trawling the memory banks there!

I have finally tracked down a firm with DK280 experience and they are going to come in to do an initial inspection. Hopefully they will be able to sort it out.

Cheers everyone for the responses, very helpful
