Hi all,

Just got a brand new Inter-tel 5000 system with Axxess v1.0.0.26? system v2.1.0.13

One user wants his extension to ring 8 times before voice mail picks up, but I do not see individual timers for these endpoints. It looks like a universal timer.
Can you help with the setup for this request?

I havnt worked with the 5000 system but if it is anything like the Axxess programming you could create a new system forwarding path that has the station in question as the first point, the vmail as the second point. You would then assign this forwarding path to the one user. In a nutshell what this does is rings the users phone for howerver many seconds the system timer (System Forward Initiate) is set for, continues to ring the phone because the first forwarding point was itself, for however many seconds that tmer (System Forward Advance) is set for, then to the users vmail box.

This is assuming the 5000 is like the Axxess.

We also have an older Inter-tel system. The newer system is smaller, it's not the big box, it's a rack mounted system. The programming, for the most part, seems to be the same.
Thanks for the tip on the forwarding path.
Does that System Forward Initiate timer apply to all forwarding paths with more than one forwarding point? or can you set the timer differently for each forwarding path.
For example, what if someone wanted a different station to ring only 6 times before advancing to voicemail in addition to the user who needs 8 rings?

I too have worked with Axxess and not the new 5000 systems. The way I understand it, it's one timer for all forwarding paths.

I think though you could get around this with hunt group timers (putting lists in the hunt groups).

InterTel programming can be a bit obtuse.

In programming go to the system timers, press F1 and you should get a very good help window that will explain the timers.

The forwarding path is the way to go.
