Just wanted to turn you guys on to something. You may have experienced it before, but here in Arkansas I have not until this past Monday. We had temperatures that were in the low 20's for a highs and single digits for lows. I have a customer that has no heat in the electrical room that the telephone equipment is located in. They called me with no phones. I took a working unit to their location and it would not work. I bring them both to my office and after about 10 minutes, both systems started working. This is when I looked in the specs and noticed the operating temp is 32 degrees F. The customer provided a space heater to keep the system warm until temperatures rise back above freezing.....

Back in the early 90's that same thing happened to one of our customers---it was a Macrotel MT16. I've never forgotten that and when someone wants to put the KSU out in the warehouse, I always show them the specs. Thanks for the reminder.

I have 3 of them, plus my own when I had it,same problem. I made a box from that blue foam that is about 1/2 or 3/4" thick, just a little bigger than the cabinet, duct-taped it all together, and then taped it over the cabinet to the wall.
The heat from the cabinet was enough to keep it warm enough. Would remove it when the temps went back to normal. My 3 customers do the same thing. In the fall they put the box over it, and remove it in the spring.

Thanks Dave, Sometimes you just need to use a little common sense.
First winter I had mine, started acting really goofy at about 25 deg. outside. Longer the day went, better it worked. Then it warmed up, and all was fine until the next cold snap. The 3 that use that still do it, and all is well. Pays to be Rube Goldberg sometimes.
