I was wondering what other companies (out of my service area) are doing to increase there customer base. What works and doesn't work for them. Phone book/radio adv./fliers/news papers adv. ect. Anyone have any success stories they want to share? Any bad ideas that did not pay off?

Yellow pages are totally worthless. We have had fairly good luck with giving existing customers a free service call in exchange for referral that results in picking up a new customer. Fliers work fairly well also.

We're relying on telemarketing almost exclusively. We use a super good lead sheet provided regionaly. We've tried using Wendover and a couple of others but we're getting no where with them. Yellow pages are worthless for us, also. No advertising at all for me in media format. We go after new construction more than anything. Paper trail is easy to follow.

We have been thinking about telemarketing for some time. Is it worth it? Do you have any suggestions on telemarketers to use?

We use an inhouse telemarketer. She gets paid a salary plus $25.00 for every valid appointment set and 1% of the sale if we get the deal. Like Mark we buy leads lists to work off of and chase new construction. Wendover is hit and miss.

Yellow pages, newspaper, chamber of commerce, not a thing. BNI, country club, hitting construction sites, Yes !

Yes, I must agree, BNI seems to have been the best group I have ever seen. In my BNI Chapter I added 22 sales reps, for an annual fee of $384. Has already paid off with a 3 phase job totalling 13K.
