Full moon, solar flares, and Friday the 13th.
I was driving our volunteer ambulance this morning, and on a two-lane state road, opposing traffic slowed down and pulled over as they should have done. The gal in a small car in front of me did the same. Just as she pulled over, a dingbat pulled right out of a driveway without looking and ALMOST collided with us. I used the Bloom Method of Combat Driving to avoid her.
A few minutes later, I arrived at the ferry landing, and as I was waved onto a waiting ferry, the driver of a 24-foot box truck, disembarking from an adjacent boat, steered his truck ALMOST into the side of the ambulance, because he was texting or inspecting his nuts, or something.
Traveling along the main street of the village where the hospital is, I went to make a left turn onto a side street and a teenaged girl was driving so fast that she couldn't stop at the stop sign, and skidded ALMOST into the ambulance as I swerved to avoid her. I was going about 5 MPH at the time.
After depositing the patient, I went to pull out of the loading dock at the hospital, and a Beemer driven by an MD talking on his cell phone ALMOST T-boned the ambulance.
On the boat coming home, the driver of the car behind us forgot to put his car in PARK, and got out to enjoy the view, and his car slowly mated with the rear of the ambulance, at about 1 MPH. He was embarrassed.
I went home and hid under the bed for the rest of the day.
