I heard something about an advisory to avoid drinking tap water in Toledo. That's gotta be a real pain.

It's scary stuff. The Western basin of Lake Erie is very shallow and stagnant. Toledo has their inlet for the water treatment plant there and the algae blooms are toxic at 2 parts per billion. I think they were at 3. They said on the news that one drop in a railroad tanker car full of water would be that 1 part per billion.

The city is/was lax in upgrading their water treatment plant, IIRC they've been in a fight with the EPA (state or federal) over the water system and have managed to delay it for several decades. Now, it's come to bite them in the butt.

Now, as of 3AM 8/4, the tests are getting better. We just have to hope the weather gets better (ie windy and less sun) to cut down the growth in the lake.

Lucky for us, we get our water out of a well and the drinking water out of the Maumee.

We always drank beer smile
The University was closed all day yesterday, but it's summer break still so there's not a ton of activity. The medical center stayed open.

We've gotten a few algae blooms at our end of Lake Erie as well. It hasn't affected water supplies (yet) but it's keeping people out of the water.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.
