Hi everyone, Long time reader, new poster here. I am a police officer and well the township I work for has a low budget for our phone system. It seems that it always gets messed up while there is no one here with authority to get it fixed and I'm stuck trying to fix it for the supervisors. The other officers who use this phone usually mess it up some how and it gets dumped on me to fix it. Now for the problem: I have a NEC phone system with the main phone's console information listed at the bottom of this question. The previous problem (for god knows how long, but it didn't bother us since there was 3 other phones in the same area to use) was that if I attempted to call out from the desk console I would get a fast busy signal. Now on top of that, if I try to call out on most of the phones in the building, I get the same problem. Anyone have any idea of possible ways to fix this? __________________________________________________________________________ SN716 Desk CON A-C NR-578840 Date: June, 2007 MFG. NO. I'm not familiar with NEC so this is a general observation.
A fast busy generally means there are no circuits/ports/trunks available. Is the system trying to call out on a group with no members, or, possibly trying to call out on a group of trunks reserved for incoming calls to the station?
If the station has an ISDN/PRI form of telephone service, the provider could be failing the calls.
Either way, a technician familiar with NEC products should be chiming in shortly.

Dodgefate - I believe the SN716 console would work on a couple of NEC systems with completely different architecture. Can you tell us what system this is on? Is it a NEAX 2400, NEAX 2000, SV8300, SV8500, etc.

Are you pressing a loop key first? The 716 console is a different device. It doesn't operate like one of the multiline phones.
