A client (I do mostly IT work but also some phone stuff) has an ESI-200 system and they're using a SIP trunk through Fusion (was Broadvox). They are having intermittent issues w/ the system.
First, the flash card on this system has failed a few times. The problem starts with intermittent crashes which become more frequent and finally the outfit that installed it says ESI tells them the flash card is bad and needs to be replaced. Any comments on that? Known issues? Anything that can be done to limit failures?
2nd, incoming calls don't reach the DID but go to a receptionist's phone, and the display will read (for example) 442-44XX. So the last two digits are X's, as if the ESI system didn't receive the last two digits so it sent the call to the receptionist.
This problem is intermittent. A power cycle may improve things for a while, but it will deteriorate again.
Any ideas on that one? The installer said it was a carrier problem, I find that pretty unlikely. I do know of other sites running ESI-100 systems w/ Fusion, and that seems to work okay.
Any ideas or places to look would be much appreciated.
My background (phones) is I run FreePBX/Asterisk for my own shop, and I've installed some Cisco (UC320, UC540) systems. I have SIP trunks running at maybe 8-10 places, sometimes I'm responsible for the phone gear, sometimes not. I'm not an ESI dealer, so have to defer to the local guys when things aren't working.

There are no "flash card" issues with ESI systems. In fact, the flash drives are used to replace older hard drives in some of the ESI systems.
That said, if an ESI tech said they have a defective Flash module, then it's probably defective and needs to be replaced.
In 99% of the cases of missing or incomplete DID numbers, it's timing. If the local ESI dealer you have been using can't resolve the issue, then have that dealer call ESI while on site. The ESI techs can view the actual numbers being sent and the reason the number gets routed where it does.
Just remember, it may be the same carrier, but that carrier is dependent on many means of transport. It may not be, per se, Fusion, but it could, very well be, the transport carrier to the end user.

May I ask a follow-up question? Are there any issues with occasionally power-cycling the unit? For example, in this instance where DID's aren't working correctly, I'm interested in trying a power-cycle and running a day or so to see if the problem resolves. But I don't want to cause more problems by doing so.

you may want to see if the system is being hacked. ESI can look into this, also, there has been a few new revisions of the software on both the phone system flash, and the ASC/SIP flash. again, have your dealer contact ESI.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..
