recently, i made a bad decision related to communication services, a decision that i certainly should have thought better of. this post is to allow me to personally heal, start forgetting and offer some opinion. a nationally known isp provider whose name starts with "h" offered new high speed services locally. in conversations with the provider's sales organization, i took an option to replace my local telephone service with a service package bundle combining internet access and local telephone service at a small monthly savings. "h" ported my number and for the next ten days and three trouble reports made to "h", i had no telephone service, nor could i find anyone at "h" who seemed to possess any capacity to restore it. at one point, i briefly had a dial tone and experienced the worst imaginable voice and call transmission quality. it was obviously voip service. i should have known better than to try to improve on 99.999 . i learn something everyday.

It's probably not the VOIP, it's the installing company.
