So here is the deal:
Have a client that needs 120 single line phones. They previously had a DSX. The SL-1100 cannot handle this amount of single line phones. They have 70 or so single line phones on the DSX, so that is plug and play. So I was thinking of using the SL-1100 and networking two systems together so I can get them to 120 single line phones. NEC says this will work, Interested in anyones thoughts on this?

Thanks
Walter

This is why NEC sells other systems. SV9100 is the next in line and can do this.

I am using SLNet to network a couple of SL1100 - will be adding more to the setup in the future. Works good over VPN. Sounds like you want to just network a couple side-by-side to get the # of SLTs you need. I would think that would work fine as well. Not sure if the cost of the VoIP cards and licenses would make it a good decision - or if it would be better to go up a step like Coral Tech is suggesting...........

Well, remember there are only 32 VOIP channels. long as your not using SIP.
80 slt at Main unit. Seems like a silly way to do it, unless you save a load of moolah.

Coral,
We never installed a SV9100. Will get some pricing just to see how the costs stack up though.

Brokeda
The application is a small hotel, 16 channels should be more than sufficient in this application. Client wants down and dirty, no voice mail, no hotel motel package and only about 8 POTS lines on the system.
My thoughts are if most people are like myself, they use their cell phone for incoming and outgoing calls, only use of the hotel phone is to call the front desk. If my assumption is correct and they want to restrict the phones for outgoing calls, then no, I will not be putting some of the trunks in the second cabinet.

Toolie,
You are correct , systems will be side by side.
