Good Morning everyone, I am having an issue I am trying to resolve. I have DSX-160 that is dropping calls after a call has been transfered. The calls come in through our main line, and dispatch will transfer the call. This only happens most of the time, and when it drops, it may be one ring, right before voicemail, or during voicemail. However, if the call is connected, the call does not drop.

The phone system was not connected to a UPS, it is now. I have looked for a co line protector, could not find one. Any help would be great.

More info needed. How many rings are the extensions programmed for before forwarding to VM. Is the problem only with the dispatch phone? What type of lines are on the system? Can dispatch transfer directly to an extensions VM?

The dispatch phone is the only phone that rings when the main number is dialed. Dispatch can transfer directly to voicemail. They claimed it would drop 1 ring or many as 3, but I have found that isn't the case..

It seems to only be certain extensions and will ring all the until voicemail.. or when VM is suppose to pick up. It seems that voicemail won't pick up and drops the call. I tried my extension 10 times, and my VM picked up everytime. If you transfer to a known extension with the issue, it will ring 3-4 times and drop the call, never making it to VM.

After doing some investigating being on site, it is eight total extensions. The issue is, if they do not pick up, their voicemail will not pick up. If you go to these eight phones, and hit the VM button, it will tell you that the voice mail box is busy.

After doing some investigating being on site, it is eight total extensions. The issue is, if they do not pick up, their voicemail will not pick up. If you go to these eight phones, and hit the VM button, it will tell you that the voice mail box is busy.

Hmmm, sounds like an intramail issue. Try assigning an extension to an unused mailbox and see if the problem goes away. I'm starting to think the intramail might be bad. Use one of the bad extensions of course and be sure you delete it from its current mailbox. For example, x307 might be using mailbox 7. Delete it from mailbox 7 and reassign it to another, say mailbox 37. Try recording a new greeting and leaving a message.

Thanks, I'm trying to locate in the manuals on how to delete and reassign a mailbox.. Thank you for your help. Also, just to clarify, the extensions go from 300-360, only 320-329 are not working. Not sure if that information will help anything..

IT might be time to bring someone in who is knowledgeable on the system and VM.
