I've been working with the Axxess for several years. I've started using two 5000 systems networked to the Axxess. I have three questions. First, how do I get the 5K to show up on a Windows network? Second, how do I get into the machine to update the Avdap.opt to map a network drive? Once I'm in the machine, I have the instructions on how to set up the network drive. I just can't get in. I'm sure it will be a "Duh" function, but I'm in a "forest for the trees" mode now. Third, how do you suggest setting up an autobackup? I have it on the Axxess system. I'd like to add it to the two 5Ks.

1. the it5k wont really "show up" on a win network. it's not a netbois device like microsoft product. if you want access via hostname, instead of ip, add an "A" record hostname in your dns server pointing to the ip of the it5k(think i understood the question :-)) 2. if you are talking about the internal BVM built into the it5k, you can not do this, it is not a windows OS, you need to plug a USB flash drive into the A port of the chassis and save voice processor information when you do saves to the "U:\" drive, be sure to include subdirectory or you will overwrite your flash. if this is a VPU(external vm) then you can set the drive mapping in the avdap config, but there are several other steps, win2k or NT4?. 3. no autobackup in the BVM in the it5k, have to do it with session manager.

1. Wah. I was afraid of that. 2. Network drives can be mapped. Look at page 5-543 in the 5000 manual. It allows a network drive to be mapped as an option to the USB drive. 3. Another Wah.

the external vm(VPU or EM) can save to externally mapped drives, not the BVM, the system uses a linux embedded OS.
