I'm a layperson. Forgive my ignorance.
We can make calls but are having trouble receiving them: in about a month, four conventional phones, one after the other, have caused a 'trip' after a single ring and then a blank line. Only the cordless phone works now. Obviously there must be something causing the trouble: could it be the cordless phone, or is it more likely to be another problem? We're about to buy another conventional phone and run it by itself to see if it behaves ok w/out the cordless phone.
Thanks for your time and help.

It is either odd or a coincidence that the cordless works when the other one doesn't. In my experience this is most often a telco trouble. When it fails, does the calling party hear one ring then a busy? Don't rule out an intermittant telco cause for this. Mark ------------------ Reliable Telephone Service
