Hi there,
We have a KX-TD1232E phone system that has mainly PT digital phones connected to it but also some SLT analogue phones (for conference phones).
Due to a reduction in service staff we recently reduced the number of outside lines to our business from 16 to 8.
Previously you used to dial 9 on any phone and this would connect to an available outside line.
When the reduction of lines came into place, our system stopped working in the traditional "dial 9" for an outside line way. Dialing 9 gives a number unavailable tone.
On investigation I found that dialling 81 - 88 (to specify a specific outside line number) also gives the unavailable tone apart from 87 which does correctly connect to an outside line. (RESULT at least I can still use the SLT conference phone!)
On the PT phones the text "CO Not Assigned" is shown in the display.
Also on the PT phone, pressing the CO line buttons 1 - 8 shows the the following and connects correctly to an outside line,
1 - CO25 2 - CO26 3 - CO27 4 - CO28 5 - CO29 6 - CO30 7 - CO31 8 - CO32 SO I am guessing that what is happening is that dialing 9 or 81 - 88 is trying to connect to a line that has been disconnected.
How do I change the system so that dialing 9 defaults to one of the available, CO25 - CO32 ??
I have looked through the installer manual and the user manual but can't see anywhere where this process is discussed.
Any help would be gratefully received !!!
Best regards,
Dan

On our side of the pond, we have program 400 that tell the system how many lines are equipped.

Hmmm I tried doing what Carl suggested here last night but sadly this didn't help. Only the lines that were actually connected were showing up as connected. ie (CO25 - CO32 connected all others not connected).
I changed the order that the phones default the lines through to 7(which works)1234568 so now I can dial 9 again to get an outside line. So now dialing 9 gets an outside line.
BUT
There seems to be a difference between the behaviour of the SLT (analogue) and PT (Digital) phones. In that now when I dial 9 on a digital phone, it goes to the next available outside line. But on my analogue phone you hit 9 and it only gets an outside line if no one is on the CO25.
Question is how do I associate a certain CO number to the other numbers in this list?
SO that I can specify, 1 -> CO26 2 -> CO27 3 -> CO28
ETC ???
Any suggestions advice would gratefully received.

co 25 to 54 are pri lines. Do you have a pri module on the front of your system. It will be written on it
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”

Hi there OBT,
Thank you for the response.
I have been and checked and yes indeed there is a module there that says, ISDN PRI Digital super hybrid system.
Any ideas what this means for the issues I am experiencing ??
Best regards,
Dan
