I've heard some loud fans on a few BCM50's, but I came across one today that has a high pitched sound to it. I think its coming from the expansion unit, which only has a 4x16 card in it.
Has anyone replaced these? Can it be as simple as swapping the fans? I suppose the hard part will be finding a replacement.
Thanks. Jim

Standard fans that I know of.
However I think maybe the MBM has fans on them and not the expansion cabinet.

Been doing some online searching and found quite a variety of prices. I ordered a couple of reasonably priced units and will see how they work out.

The fans I ordered were exact replacements (imagine that!), except for the 3-wire connector. On the new fans, the wires were in reverse order of the old fans. The connector is polarized, so could only put it on one way. But it seemed to work ok.
Btw, the expansion cabinet has two fans. Didn't look in the main cabinet. Unfortunately, the noise persisted, so it seems that the 4x16 card, with it's own fan, is the culprit. I haven't narrowed down yet whether it will be more economical to find a replacement fan or just another 4x16 card.
