Have a customer with a DSX40 and 4 CO lines. They are wanting to be able to transfer a call on any of those lines to a location/line in another city. Initially I told them to have the provider (CenturyLink) add 3-way calling/User Transfer to the lines so they could do a Flash and setup a 3 way call and then drop off of the call once the 3rd party is added.
I was asked if the system is capable of doing this without adding any features. I know you can create a conference call using two or more lines, but if the user creating the conference (usually at x301) drops out of the call, then the conference is completely dropped as well. Is there anything in the system programming that would allow this?

Yes, you can allow tandem calling on the lines & use the transfer function instead of the conference key. Still ties up 2 lines for each call like a conference call though.

Ken,
Thanks for the information. I will check the config and give this a try.
