We are servicing an NEC Electra II. Several times this summer, it has shut-down due to hot temperatures in the room.A fan was installed, and it has been operational for two-months. Yesterday, it shut down partially affecting about half of the phones on the system, but not the T1 card or the analog card. It has two cabinets, and both of the power supplies were functioning. The room was warm because someone had obstructed the fan, and closed the door. We reset the system, and it came back up for now.
My question is, what should be replaced on the system due to the heat exposure?

How hot is the room? I had an Elite IPK running in a room with the buildings boiler and the room was constantly around 80-90 degrees. System ran for years without a hiccup.

If you're saying the power supplies are still running and shutting down and resetting is fixing the issue, it may be the CPU failing. Can also be one bad card that drags the whole system down. If it fails again, try pulling the cards one at a time to see if the system recovers.

The room was in the 80 degree range when it went partially down the other day. We will try removing some of the station cards if it happens again. I was concerned that the cpu might have a weak component that is failing at a certain heat range. I will purchase a spare cpu to keep at the site.
