Our company was given option of buying a used phone system from one of our customers who was closing up shop. It's an Axxess box with 9.0 software on it as well as a 40 box voice mail card.

Before the company buys it, they've assigned me to take a look at it and verify it'll do what our company needs without us having to buy upgrades for it. The problem is that my boss doesn't want me paying anyone to get manuals/software since the client we got it from didn't have them to give us.

So at this point, I'm stuck. I can boot the thing up and am enough of a Linux nerd to have figured out how to reset the voice mail system back to default (backing up all the data first, of course), but I can't get control over the main phone switch CPU as that apparently take special software.

Anyone feel like taking pity on me and lending a hand?

Thanks
Keith

Hi Keith!

Welcome to the board.

I'm sorry but I'm not as much of a Verison 9 guru as some of our other members. Perhaps RCA, Chris, or superfoneguy will be by to give you an extra hand, but I have to say I'm afraid your boss has our hands tied.

If he won't allow you to purchase the programming software you're not going to be able to look at the system. Telling you what cards are in the cabinet is one thing, but you're not going to be able to look under the hood. Also, without the manuals you're going to have a very steep learning curve even if you do get the programming software, although the F1 Key will offer you some help.

Why don't you tell us what your company's needs are and what cards are in the cabinet so the other techs will have some place to start.

welcome

You can buy the hardware from someone, but the licensing doesn't come with it. If you want Inter-Tel support, you'll have to buy all new licenses.

www.inter-tel.com/systemtips

Has a basic admistrator guide. The DB software is about 30MB. Can somebody can let me know if there are any rules about linking to downloads like that? If there isn't, I'll post the software.
