I have several remote IP Phone set up and in use, and therefore have passing awareness of the ports issue, but I don't think that covers a new situation.

1) Set up new user (550.8662) for connection to my Ohio offce's IPRC.

2) Verifed her Belkin Wireless 'G' was passing ports ranges.

Phone works, calls made/received - for a while.

No fixed time on this, but after an hour or so, loses audio - both directions, just as if the ports weren't open.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

TIA

  • What version is the Axxess, IPRC and 8662?
  • Specifically, what ports are open on the FW at the IPRC?

Also, are you saying you opened ports at the remote site?

I have personally experienced some consumer grade broadband routers cause this very issue. I am not saying that is the case but can you try a different router? Does the phone eventually reset on it's own or will it stay online indefinitely while exhibiting the no audio condition?
You should not need to open anything on the remote side assuming that you are allowing any outbound initiated connections from inside the NAT. If worse comes to worse, slap a hub between the phone and the router and wireshark it.

SOLVED!

It WAS the 'cheap' Belkin Router!

Replaced with a Linksys, all now good.
