Hello everyone,

We have a new boss who would like to handle her calls differently than the way we've done here for years. Our system may be able to do this but since it's been set up this way, I know no other way.

When a call comes in, she wants her secretary to pick it up.
If the secretary isn't in, she would like for the call to land in her own VM box; not the secretary's.

Can this be done?

Thanks!

Rick

I'm not sure if I still have manual but there was a feature call coverage keys that may have some promise.Alternatively maybe a sli extension and ringing group pickup keys. It's been to long since I have played with a VX2 to remember what it can/cannot do.

Put the boss in a pick group (In the timers section of programming A-screen) Example 5
Then put a ring pick up key on the secretary's phone I.E. 905
this will cause the secretary's phone to ring but if not answered call will go to the bosses mailbox

Hello MC,

Ok, did that. I did get the boss' VM, but tested with the secretary but her phone did not ring. I was going to verify if her programmable key illuminated when I called but she's busy at the moment.

Ringing group Pickup keys have a subcode to determine how or when they ring.

8.4.36 RING GROUP PICKUP
The RINGING GROUP PICKUP key allows a call ringing in a pickup group to ring any phone programmed
with a RINGING GROUP PICKUP key. PICK UP keys (key code 808) only flash to indicate an
incoming call. The key can be programmed to light only, to begin ringing immediately and light, or to
begin ringing after a delay time and light immediately.
The key code for a RINGING GROUP PICKUP key is 9 + the group number 01 through 36. The key is
also programmed with a sub-code:
000 = immediate ring
001 200 = this number is multiplied by 10 seconds to give the delay time.
201 = the phone does not ring. The LED lights immediately.
NOTE: PICK UP keys and RINGING GROUP PICKUP keys should not be programmed
at the same time on an extension.
8.4.37

The only problem I see is the boss 's phone will still ring in this scenario ,not sure if you want that or not.
