I have a customer who is switching from analog C.O. lines to a PRI next month. According to tech support and reading tech tips, the system needs to be initialized and reprogrammed from scratch. This customer has a lot going on with their current programming and I would much like to avoid this procedure. Has anyone here ever installed a PRI without initializing and reprogramming with the SBX?

Since you have to program the card slot via touch tone commands on an existing system, this would be your only major obstacle. Of course, the system will need to be rebooted and the trunk groups must be arranged so that you don't have the newly-attained trunks included in the existing trunk group(s) until ready to go. I'd get a backup of the existing database, program the slot manually and go for it. Keep in mind that PRI/DID programming is surprisingly easy on this system. The numbers correlate directly to the station, rather than the added step of a route, which is required on the other systems.
