Good Friday afternoon!

I've already gleaned a good deal of info just lurking here and I joined to say thanks!

I inherited an OS100 in a building my boss purchased. I've got it working for making and receiving calls and intercom calls. However, I have a few phones that only list the version and date info, while other phones are fully functional. The cards in the box are an MCP1, MISC3, 6TRK, and an 8DLI. (Are all of these necessary?) I also have 2 SVMI4 cards, but I'm just trying to get the system to work across all phones before I tread into setting up that. I've gotten manuals from the interwebz, but nothing I see explains why only certain of the phones boot up.

I do realize this system is really EOL, but it's gotten to an almost personal level now.

I appreciate any assistance that can be provided.

Thank you!

So let's start with the cards

The MCP is the main card runs the system
Misc3 would be for call display and has a small cable that plugs it into the MCP card
SVMI 4 provides the auto attendant/voicemail 1 per system
6TRK is for connecting analog Bell lines and 8 DLI supplies 8 digital extension ports for the phones. The main cabinet will also have 8 built in digital extension ports so you can have up to 16 digital phones connected.

If you have a phone that's showing just the version number there are a couple of possibilities
1) Bad phone you can confirm that by swapping with a known working phone
2) Bad dli port try a different port
3)Not connected to a dli port I think even connecting to an outside line with 48V on it will show the version on a phone

To be honest I like this system and except for power supply known issues ,it works fine

I would check your amp cables and make sure that they are both secure on the phone system. Also check the power supply. In the top right corner there are two capacitors on it. If they look like they are blown or about to pop, then you must change them out. How many phones are you running on the system?

pvj, Thank you for your response!
1)I tried that. It just shows version and date on the swapped phone, while hooking up the phone to the known good line boots up properly.
2)Is this a port located on the office serv system itself or the 66 block everything is wired to?
3)How can I check this?

Biztel Cuban Okie Tech, thank you for your response!
The cables are all tight.
I actually have a spare OS100 that has this issue. The one that's installed looks good.
Right now I have 7 phones attached to the system. 4 of them boot and work properly, 3 only show version and date. Ideally, the boss would like 14 phones attached to the system, but if necessary I can present a case for less. (8 total phones)

So from what you said

You swapped a known working phone to a jack that only was showing the version number and it also just showed the version number.
Then you put the phone that was showing version number and plugged it into a jack where the phone was working and it also worked.
So the phone is good the extension port is bad or not a jack connected to the system. How can you tell well I can't without being there. You need to be able to trace it back.

You are like I mentioned set up for 16 digital extension ports with the 8 built in and 8 from the 8DLI card.Minus any bad ports you may have.

Ok, on to the next. I'm trying to hook my laptop up to it. I found and downloaded the PCMMC software, but the only response I get when communicating via serial cable is "The system is invalid". I started using the handset, only to discover that none of the working phones have technician permissions (or is this not necessarily tied to any phone, just whomever has the password?) Speaking of passwords, is there a default technician code? I see what the default is for the stations, but I don't see anything above that.

Look for OSM Officeserv manager. You will need to know what software level the system is running.

Programming through a keyset can be done from any display set as long as the passcode is known

I've downloaded OfficeServ Launchpad v1.03 that has a number of officeserv versions in it. Is there a more recent version I should be looking for?
