This is what I see when I insert a particular CD Audible into my DVD/CD player on my laptop. Unchecking "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in advance settings makes no difference.


Windows 10 ~ 64 bit
Asus X750JB
Same issue playing on a different Asus X750JB laptop
Audio CD is not a rip
Other audio CD's work fine on laptop
DVD work fine on laptop
CD is not recognized by File Explorer/Windows Media Player/Groove Music/Nero or any other downloadable player...[see image above]
CD does play fine in typical home theater DVD/CD player and automobile


Googling issue assumes all compact discs are not working and thus those resolutions are invalid.

Is this a pressed (original) CD or a burned CD-R or CD-RW? It would appear this is a burned CD-R in multi-session mode which causes issues like this.

Took me awhile to remember how to do this. Been a long time since I burned CDs. Just use external harddrives or USB flashdrives now.

This is an original audio CD that came from the manufacture and the file type should be .cda.
I am not typing to burn a CD just play the CD.

Try resurfacing it with polishing paste or check out your local library, they might still have cd polishing machine

The CD disc are new and have a clean polished surface with not a blemish to be seen...good enough to use as a shaving mirror.

Could be copy protected CD

Since you're having the same problem with another Asus rig, try updating the CD-ROM drivers. Longshot, but it's something to try...
