I am getting complaints about periodic echoing on calls.
Anecdotal intel says it seems to be incoming calls. If flashed and called back on the same line, it disappears.
I can't see where an echo would originate within the cabinet or phones so I'm leaning towards the Carrier.
I am the 1st to admit I haven't seen EVERY rodeo though so has anybody else heard of this?
Thanks

Does this mean no one else has experienced echoing on a KXTD816 either?

You asked and answered your own question. LOOK AT THE CARRIER. Oh, wait, maybe the phone system can tell the difference between incoming and outgoing calls and adds a special echo to the call

Hello Carl,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your insight.
In my experience this system selects incoming calls from the pilot number going up. The outbound calls select the last trunk and hunt towards the first. I am not saying that the system would choose to echo only one direction. Devils advocate speaking up here. What if trunk 2 of 8 had a carrier problem. you would get it on incoming calls frequently and outbound occasionally. If you happened to get the bad trunk #2 and then flashed, you would keep the bad one and the echo associated with that line should remain on it. I am trying to get this test done to verify what I suspect will turn out to be a trunk problem. I came here asking if there could possibly be anything else to look for as I do not know of anything Panasonic that would do this.

My TA824 is set up as a key system. I have 4 lines and I direct select each line, or know which line I'm using. The idea that you dial "9" for an outside line and get echoes, or actually as you said, it's incoming andyou flash and it goes away, didn't tell me that you hear the echoes on lines 6-8 vs. 1-3. If you hear an echo on line 2 and use line 2 to call out (logical option) doesn't seem that it would be the fault of the phone system. Remember, you have the CLOSED end of the network. Nothing changes.

Thanks Carl,
I only have the anecdotal information from the client. I haven't been authorized for a field visit as yet and like I said, I haven't seen EVERYTHING telecom (who has?). I agree it should not be the phone system but I was looking for advice from more experienced techs who may have seen weirdness.
Remember the old IBM Selectric typewriter with the ball?. I had a Horizon MET set that would go crazy with all lights going BINGO st odd times. I finally nailed it down to woman across the desk from her.. Whenever SHE would type the OTHER ladies phone went nuts. Once I got under the desk I found they had taped the mounting cord to the power cord to the typewriter. Damn the induction! Full speed ahead.
Thank you for your time and backup that it is outside the system.
Have a great weekend!
Ralph
