I have a question about a Nortel 6x16 pbx. I have gotten everything working but have a question about how to foward a call to another extension. I get as far as where it would say"foward>ext 22" or something like that but it does not transfer or foward. Can someone give some pointers? Thank you.

It just Forward

Transfer is another feature, do not be confused or think they are the same thing.

Transfer - to transfer a call from one set to another using F70
Call Forward - to forward all calls from one set to another set using F4

Forwarding:
Feature 4, 22
Now when you intercom 2X it should ring 22

Double check the DN 22 is correct:
Feature * 0 then press Intercom

What is the symptom and/or message on the 2X set for you to say it does not forward calls?

After doing the call foward it does nothing but says foward>22 cancel.

Right...its telling you the phone is not only forwarded but to where too.
Did you call 2X and see if 22 rings?

go to any other phone, press Intercom then dial the DN you had forwarded and see if 22 rings instead.

Call Forward is primarily used when you are going to be at another phone for some time or not in office and somebody else is to take your calls.

"how to foward a call to another extension"

Did you mean how to transfer a call to another phone?
Example : Mo calls into the business and Larry answers, you then want to transfer the call (Mo) to Curly?
