We have a WIN 1020 phone at a station. Does anybody know how to turn on the ringer for incoming calls. Our local service Dealer says they need to come out and plug a computer into the system and program it. That seems like a lot of work for something that simple.

Hello,

Your local tech is correct. You may purchase a manual and try to program the system yourself. You also may find someone here that will tell you how to do the programming. And you may use the search to see if you can find the procedure quickly. If you have a dial in connection on the system, it may be programmed that way as well.

By the way if you need any parts, phones or a manual we sell WIN.

Yes, do not feel bad, telephone system programming is another language all together, this is why there are techs that specialize in for our industry. And if you have a local tech that works on that old WIN system you are in luck.

$120 for a service call has been the going rate for the past 25 years, so yes use him. And I would pay him to also backup the system and give it you on a thumb drive. And to take it one step further I would purchase a crash kit for that system if you don't plan on purchasing a new one soon.

And if you just want to get a new guy or company to service the equipment, then give us your info and we can post it for you in Request an Installer or you may yourself make the post/request.

It seems like TCH Industries, a Corporation for Profit since 1983, could easily afford a $120 service call for a professional.

LOL.. You are correct. We are actually thinking about upgrading to a new phone system and don't want to dump any more money into this WIN system than we need to. BTW. If you worked for TCH you would understand the mentality...

Question, would you like a quote for new equipment and service? If so we can help find a company in your area and by the way how many phones is the WIN System supporting currently?

I have indeed installed systems where the customer pays $$$$ for a telephone system that helps improve their bottom line but hate to put out $ for needed repairs or maintenance.

It's like spending $65,000 for a new Ford Mustang Roush Stage 2, then complaining having to pay $39.00 for a oil change.

Because of the nature of the beast (all telephone systems) it is impossible to know how to change ringing assignments without analyzing the database... this is especially true if you are not the one who installed or maintains the system.
