I have a customer that I just switched over to SIP trunks from POTS lines. I had an option setup in the voicemail (VMAC) to transfer off premise before that worked fine with 9+7405551212 but I can't get it to work now. I have tried 9p, 9n, 9;, 9,....Does anyone know what I need to check to get this option working again?

Thanks

SIP provider should be able to answer that.

What flavor/version of Iwatsu are you running?

Sorry, I missed your reply on this.

It's an ECS 11.02. The voicemail is a 4VML but I don't know the release.

I still can't the off-premise transfer to work through the auto attendant menu like I had it before switching to SIP.

I may try routing it from auto attendant through conventional networking to see if I can get the transfer to work that way.

I'm trying to avoid the expensive tech support call.......

Probably has something to do with the voicemail trying to initiate a Centrex transfer.

Using the external networking settings is probably your best bet.

On earlier versions, you could also plug in a digital phone to an unused port, set the forwarding of the extension off- premise then remove the phone. Forwarding would still work until you had a power outage or a system reset, but I have never tried it on versions above 10.

I tried it through external networking and it still doesn't work. However, if I dial the external conversion number it does work just fine. The problem is that the transferred call is sending out the invite as being from my cell phone instead of the customers main number and since my number isn't on their account the SIP carrier is rejecting the call.

I just don't see anywhere where I can change that header. I tried disabling the feature that passes caller ID and it is still doing the same thing.

Ask your provider if they support sending/forwarding caller id from a transfer. They may call it tromboning or some term they use.

You may have to monkey with inband signalling in your external tables.

You could try setting the CNIS number (Class 10.79) for your voicemail ports to the main number

Also, you can tell the ECS not to send CID info to the voicemail system. (VM integration, trunk packet to none) This setting is actually designed for analog POTS trunks, bbut may help you troubleshoot things a bit.

I didn't think about changing the CNIS on the voice mail ports, I can give that a shot. I'm assuming the ECS is still going to try and send the external caller ID in the header though, but definitely worth a shot.

I tried disabling 11.72.04 (CID Xfer Method) thinking that was the problem (and did a reboot) but it didn't change anything.

Thanks for the ideas.

Try changing the packet ID setting in Class 4.77. If the voicemail doesn't have a CID to work with, it can't send anything out...
