Hi guys,

I have a small problem encountered on the Officeserv 500, was wondering if anybody had encountered such a problem and could help me out. ponder

I have an officeserv 500 installed and the ringing to analog extensions is working fine with 16SLI Cards, however when i install 16MWSLI Cards, the extensions do not have ringing.

The card works fine otherwise, i can call from and receive calls to the 16MWSLI extensions.

Anybody has any idea how to get the extensions installed in the 16MWSLI Card to ring?

Is the 16mwsli in the same cabinet as the 16sli?

If you swap the 16sli for a 16mwsli does it work?

Yup, the 16mwsli is in the same cabinet as the 16sli.

If i swap the cards, the same thing happens. The slot with the 16mwsli does not have ringing while the 16sli has ringing.

I thought it was a problem with the 16mwsli card, but every 16mwsli card seems to have the same problem. "tested with 6 16mwsli cards"

What's the part code on the barcode sticker on the card?

Specifically the part after the /

From memory it will be something like kp50016m/xsa

Compare that to what's on the 16sli kp50016s/xsa

The part numbers for the cards are as follows:

16SLI : KP 500db 16S/ EUS Works perfectly

16MWSLI: KP 500db 16M/ AUA Everything works, except for the ringing

You tried new power units
or pulling out the old 16li card to see if the phones ring

So I know that some countries had ring generator cards in the cabinets instead of the ring voltage being done on the card.Which way is the ring voltage generated on the cards or in the cabinet?

The australian cards on the 500 take a ring generator unit (rgu) installed on the back of the cabinet behind the psu's.

The 16sli cards you have are european, the 16mwsli cards are australian.

What is the jumper behind the 1st psu set to? Int or ext?

You'll have to find a rgu, fit it and change the jumper to ext before the 16mwsli cards will work.

Australia has a sine wave ring signal, other countries have a square wave. The rgu generates the sine wave ring required.

What are the dip switch settings on the mcp? With the exception of 6, 7 and 8 only switch 3 should be on for australia.

So the problem as you guys correctly said is due to no ringer unit in the Officeserv 500 Cabinet,

the Australian cards require a RGU, while the other cards have it inbuilt.
