I'm not a Verizon user, but it looks like they may be leading the way to stop robocalls with
AT&T and Comcast to follow.
We'll see how that goes..

Problem is this is just a piecemeal effort, just like the Stir/Shaken plan put in place by T-Mobile. Until all the phone carriers get together and build a common platform to address this it won't get fixed. The FCC and legislators need to grow a pair and force the issue. The FCC and phone companies have been pussy footing around this for far to long and any bill introduced by our legislators just sit in committee. As usual corporate money has a big part in the hold up.

I like that my Google Fi phones come up with a red screen that says "Suspected spam caller" , I can then choose to block that number

Still better than what was offered before. I can get 3-16 "Spam Likely" calls in less than one minute. But yes I agree, once the calls stop making $$$ then they will stop.
