Hi Foks,

I have a 7400 running 4.98 with a SVMi 20i card. It is constantly getting locked up for network connection with SVM NTWK Errors. When I reset the card, I get maybe 3 hours of successful email gateway activity and then it locks up again.

I see that the release notes for 5.01 say that this is addresses for the mp10a and the mp20s, any idea if this helps with the mp40/ svmi 20i combo?

Thanks in advance,

-Will

Are your MP40 and SVMI using the same IP address? The MP10 and MP20s voicemail is contained on the processor card, so the IP address will be the same. On the MP20 or MP40, aseparate card is required, with its own distinct IP address.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

Check the lan cable and switch port.
Also check for ip address conflicts

@JBean, Yes separate IP addresses for each component.

@nameless. What exactly can we check with the switch port and lan cable? We have moved it to a completely different switch and had no change in behavior.

I am having the same problem with a 20i on a 7400 v5.01. It looks like the 20i card is getting slammed with packets causing it to eventually shut down. We had this problem a while back with an OAS card. We ended up putting the system behind a router to stop the unsolicited traffic for hitting the card. Its not the best solution but it worked.

Are there any ports forwarded to the address of the 20i card? If the FTP is forwarded to it for example it could be causing a flood attack and that could be the issue.

We don't have any external ports forwarded. I haven't tried yet but it looks like I can change the FTP port number. Maybe that will help

If you Dont have any ip phones try putting in a switch just for the mp40 and svmi card, not connected to the customers network. Or if it's a managed switch put them in their own vlan.

It's likely something on the network broadcasting (there was an issue with some network card drivers that showed ipv6 broadcast traffic when the pc went to sleep), or scanning to see what it is (as its linux it's trying to interrogate it.

A Wireshark trace will show if this is the case.
