Don't know if this is the correct forum to post this. Has anyone used their Smartphone as a GPS with 2G data speeds? Don't have a Smartphone yet - the company will pay half the monthly cost. Most plans I see start at 4 or so Gig/month then once the maximum is reached it's reduced to 2G,
At Net10 rep I asked said the GPS wouldn't work at 2G. I have a GPS that's starting to give me trouble, I may just replace it with another one. I don't want a huge cellphone data bill.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 Active* through T-mobile with unlimited data and there has never been an issue with data speed or connectivity.
I would haphazard to guess that as long as you are static (staying in one place) you shouldn't have a problem. Save map for offline. The problem comes when you are travelling. The speed of your streaming cannot keep up with the speed of your traveling.
I picked the Active because I didn't like the beveled edges...being clumsily and all.
