We've been pretty quiet here so maybe we need a bit of discussion. Anybody want to jump in on the covid19 pandemic and how it's being addressed by those in power? Who to believe and who to trust. I know we're dealing with the forbidden political topic thing but it's been to damn quiet for too long, stir it up! I know there's many valued opinions so let's hear them. I'll now go back to admin mode.

I'll bite.
Here in Maine many people are complaining about the way governor Mills has shut down the state. Being Vacation Land this is hurting the states economy but keeping the virus contained. As an older person and almost retired I think it's good but many people are struggling by. With the closing of festivals and fairs many non profit groups, clubs and other places that rely on that income are not going to be able to help people over the next year. State and town revenue are down so even if this virus is controlled it's going to take a long time to recover to anything close to normal.

Yes, Merritt Nebraska is in the same boat as far as tourism goes but on a smaller scale I'm sure. I'm seeing plenty of bikes going by as the Sturgis rally is still on. People are really complaining about many national businesses starting to require mask to shop, personally I don't think it's much to ask of the public. It's pretty touchy subject as to how to balance economy and the safety of the public. Everyone stay safe.

I heard that the governor of Maine has enacted regulations that require visitors from Massachusetts to quarantine for two weeks. What I'm not sure of is what, if any, regulations apply to people who travel to, say, Kittery for a day of shopping along RT1. A family in our church has a summer house on North Haven and they had to answer some questions when arriving for their vacation.

For awhile if you left the panhandle of Nebraska you were suppose to self quarantine for 2 weeks when returning. Both my wife and I have Doctors who we have to go to South Dakota for and we did follow the guidelines, I know a lot of people who didn't though. The county we live in is pretty big and sparsely populated and there only been 4 reported cases in the county other parts of Nebraska aren't fairing so well most of the population area's are pretty hard hit.
