Turbocharged which was rare in those days. Cult following for sure. Wasn't as bullet proof as the early 80hp, 95hp, and 110 models. The bigger and more powerful they got the less reliable I believe. Never saw an 80hp drop a valve seat. Bigger ones not so much.

My Dad's car was a '64 Impala SS, 2-door. I STILL miss that car...

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

Love the big Impala SS from the 60s. I had a 65 with a 396 big block when i joined the military in 1976. I bought a 1996 Impala SS in dark cherry metallic back in 1995. Nice car but it was still weird to a guy of the 70s driving a 4 door SS. Sold it 10 years later with 1200 miles on it. Still like factory new. Sold it for what I paid for it.

I remember the opel.
There was a Sedan and a GT
The GT had flip over headlights via a handle on the dash or console and you had to pull the handle really hard to get the headlight to latch to stay up.

As far as the corvair I remember them being hell to tune the twin carburetors.
You needed a special gauge to measure the intake air flow and adjust then both to the same cfm..

There is a gentleman in southern California who drives around in a tool filled van. His expertise is doing repair work on Corvairs.

Makes me wonder if a Chevrolet dealership could do repairs on a car like that these days. ponder

Probably not.
Just parts would get iffy.
goto a chevy dealer today and ask for points condenser rotor and distributor cap.
The person on the counter was probably born after chevy stopped using them smile

Remember there was a 4 carburetor option for the Corvair too. Tuning four 1 barrel carburetors took a bit of patience and a good vacuum gauge.

I was 12 years old in 1970, friend of my older brother bought a new Chevelle SS with the LS6 454, Muncie rock crusher 4 speed manual. I will never forget the force pushing you against the seat when he launch that car. My brother laughs at the memory's of how much money his friend spent on gas and tires. (parents were wealthy)
