Hi guys,
Is it possible to connect Inter-Tel model 8622 phone directly to router (non comercial) and use as voip/sip phone (so computer doesn't need to be on to make a calls)?
I bought Inter-Tel model 8622 phone of ebay and it came without any wires. I used ethernet/lan RJ-45 wire to connect phone to router but phone is dead, I read somewhere that it could be powered by ethernet cable. Please help, thanks a lot.

IP phones can be powered via an external power supply or a PoE switch.

Phones will work independently. No computer is needed. There will still be programming on the system as well as on the phone once you're past the power road block.

Does your system have a Category "A" endpoint license on it? What kind of system is it? Axxess will need an IPRC card?

It sounds as if you bought an IP phone and thought it would just start working once you plug it in. I apologize in advance if I'm wrong.

I have D-Link Dir-615 router only. I bought a IP phone and I though I will need just any router to work, then just to configure it (IP, mask, gateway and DNS).
Does Intel 8622 phone needs to connect to an inter-tel / Mitel switch or just any router?

You will need to connect it to an Inter-tel/Mitel system for it to work. Someone might know of a way to flash it to where it's no longer proprietary but that's a long shot.

There is SIP firmware available for the 8622, but documentation is sparse, and the actual firmware fairly scarce as well.

Frankly, this phone is really designed to be used with the Inter-Tel systems and only the Inter-Tel systems. Trying to repurpose it without a strong background in VoIP technology will be a very large cliff to climb.

You are much better off selling it back off and getting something more aligned to what you want to do, perhaps one of the LInksys phones. Perhaps check through the hardware areas at voip-info.org for devices that work like you want them to.
