I have an Inter-Tel Axxess system v6.006, and I am trying to make an image of the EVMC hard drive.
There have been no known problems with the unit, but it's been running for a few years.

I have had some difficulty making an image, though. I attached it to a computer using a USB adapter and tried to image it. Ghost v15 choked on it at about 40%. Linux/Partimage gave errors ~87,700 sectors in, and Linux 'dd' also gave buffer I/O errors at around the same spot. I tried a couple of different PC's, same result. I will try again with the disk direct-attached to an IDE cable, but my confidence isn't really high.

It is an OS/2 system, and as I mentioned, it boots and runs without errors in the Axxess system. Has anyone imaged these units successfully? Is there some trick I'm missing?

I've had success with Acronis in the past connected to a hard drive enclosure. I've never personally used Ghost.

I have a copy of Acronis. When I get the system back down and get the disk connected directly to an IDE cable, I'll give it a shot. I'm still a little worried about a bad spot on the drive though.

I copied my image (the one I made with dd on Linux) to a new drive, and everything appears to be there when viewed from a Windows machine, but it won't boot - no surprise there. I'm actually thinking about trying to get a copy of OS/2 Warp v3 and doing an install to the hard drive, then copying all the AVDAP software over. I don't suppose anyone's got experience with that approach, huh? I'm starting to feel like a mad scientist.

I've used an older version of Ghost to mirror those drives. I think I used ver. 7.

I will admit that seeing other's successful results makes me really uncomfortable with my little disk sector error. Hope it isn't about to die.

Update: The Fujitsu drive in the EVMC definitely had bad spots. The Fujitsu Drive Diagnostic (now on Toshiba's drive site) found, and generously offered to repair, the affected sector(s). Fortunately, the bad sector(s) do not appear to have been in any critical data space, and once repaired, the drive imaged with no problem. I restored the image to a new drive, installed it and booted up, everything is working and even a handful of the message lights are still flashing on desksets. I hope they were flashing before I took it down.

Thanks to everyone for their help!!
