Inter-Tel 5000 system phones are disconnecting, blank screen then a few seconds later come back on. I've rebooted the phone system and this is still happening. It's happening every couple of minutes. After a reboot it goes a while maybe 30 minutes before it does it.
Any idea what is going on here?

I've not had the exact some problem, but I was having an issue with the phones locking up. It was caused by a network security scanning software. I had to group all of the phones into an IP range so the scanning software could be programmed to bypass them.
The displays going blank is a new one. Usually they maintain their last display when they lockup. Are you using POE bridges/switches to power the phones?

Digital phones, I have checked the db15 cable connecting the 2 boxes and it is secure. I've also checked the UPS and it appears to be working.

How many DEM-16 cards do you have in the system? Can you swap them around and see if the problem follows the card or the slot.
I've had problems with the cable in the past as well and had to re-terminate both sides to get it to work properly.
Is the system grounded?

I'm not sure if it is grounded. I didn't even think to look at that. There are only 2 DEM cards. The owner is now asking to simply replace the unit. Are these DEM cards pre programmed? I did a search for the DEI system and it looks like they are just empty cabinets. So if it is a bad card, problem would persist. Is this assumption correct?

The card programming is in the system not on the card. You can replac the cards without loosing any programming. If you have cards and phones on both cards ae dropping off, I doubt it's a card r both cards. If pones on one card are dropping off roll cards and see if problem follows Randy

Have you pulled error logs to see if the problem is registering? Any alarm codes popping up on your primary admin station?

We just ordered a DEI. I'm going to install it today. Any suggestions or tips on card swapping? Or is it just like a PC?
