Greetings,

Let me start off with the fact n other options are available at this point, yes upgrading would be wonderful but it's not practical for the situation...

Have a CM/VS on a Merlin 820 Classic. It's been dead some time now, faults out on the testing phase while firing up.

The ultimate diagnosis is that the HDD's chewed up somewhere on the disk surface and during a reboot it hits the bad spot and faults out. We can replace the HDD, but obviously no software intact to do that with.

Anyone have a copy of this software that I can reload/format the HDD with or where a copy might be floating around?

Thanks!

Boy that is going to be very hard to get your hands on. The best i could suggest is to hope that someone pop in that has it.

Yep, at this point it's DOA otherwise and I can't justify spending at least $1K on repair or replacement. That's why I figured I'd fling the request out there and see if we could get lucky!

I'd just get it repaired somewhere, but they're going to do the exact same thing (for the most part) if that's all that is wrong with the unit. Thus I'd like to take a shot and see if it's the case, or scrap it and keep an eye on eBay for another one.

If anyone out there has a DOA unit or possibly could even image the drive, my ears are open for suggestions or offers!

Yes, check eBay often. In the past few months I have seen "repair" kits for Classic Mail that are more or less just the HD with software loaded. I think that they were around $400, but I'm not positive.

Do you happen to remember in what section or any keywords? I can set up a watchdog for it, the one I have isn't seeing things like that at the moment.

Still searching, haven't found a think in eBay unless I'm using the wrong keywords or someone has seen them hiding in an off-category. Any clues on the eBay search or anyone who might be able to help, please get in touch with me.

Thanks!

You are referring to the Claassic Mail/ Voysys system Correct? I have a good spare unit on the shelf. Let me know if you are interested.
