I'm in need of a remote extension across the railroad tracks and have no way to run a wire to the site. Would like to have a 2.4GHz wireless phone as an extension. Any ideas on how to do this? This extension does not require any features like on the BIS-10 or BIS-22. My system is a 820D.

In reading the 820D Users Manual, I see something about a BTMI. Is this what I need?

You need a Basic Telephone Interface to convert the Merlin port to analog then any cordless phone will work. Avaya still has Merlin cordless phones available with full features for your system.
