Can anyone "officially" confirm the distance limitations for Partner ACS phone extensions? I've only seen one reference on the Internet that says 1000/3000 ft for system/regular phones (respectively). I can't find *any* reference in the Avaya documentation.
We'll be moving our ACS Rev5 system from a single building to a new location with two buildings and are trying to figure out how we can share the system between the two.

How far are your buildings apart? The 1000/3000 feet are the limits shown in the system manual. It would also depend on the gauge of the cable between the buildings (the greater the gauge the greater the distance) I just installed a system with 15 single line phones and one system phone in another building about 500 feet away from the KSU and they worked fine. I don't know how well they would work near the limits set by Avaya.

Thanks.
I'm awaiting site distances from our architect. I'm thinking it shouldn't be much more than 200-300 ft between buildings, with another 200 ft of cabling in each building (700 ft distance max).
I'm also interested to find out if any other users are near the "limit" and how well the phones perform. Or if anyone else may be using a different solution to bridge the gap between buildings.

The limits listed are about half what the system will actually perform well at, this protects the manufacturer. I've had Comdial system phones working 3000 ft. away from the switch for 3 years and no problems on standard 25 pr. feed cables. If you want to test, just beanie a couple of thousand ft. boxes of wire together and connect to the system and hang a phone on the other end. You don't have to pull the wire out to get a true test. You'll be surprized how far they will work if they have no inductance from an electrical source. mark
