hi all, its me again. anyway i just finished running all my wire where they belong, but lord and behold! the customer now wants dial-up to go into the system, my question is to avoid running more wire can i use one cat5e wire for phone and dial-up or does the partner acs requires all four pairs for the phone and its functions (18d lucent phones)and if not its only one pair for phones right?

phones require 2 pair pins 3456 respectively

To clarify the answer, the partner phone takes 2 pair - blue & orange, the other 2 pair can be used for another partner phone, co to modem/fax, or whatever.

since iam using one wire cat5e for phone and dial-up can i still use the cat5 keystone inserts by puching down blue/orange on one and green/brown on the other?

since your using 8pin jacks as ohio telecom said take your white blue pair and put on pins 4&5 and your white orange pair to pins 3&6, than just for fax or whatever take the white green or white brown and put on pins 4&5 keeping in mind you are not wiring this for network application. Hope this clears it up some
