We are a small business of about 6 individuals not looking to grow to more than 10 in five years. We need vm with 4 ports, 4 lines, 6 extensions. I went to buyerzone.com and several major brand vendors have contacted me with systems ranging in price from $2400-$4400. After sorting the details and making them comparable, I am apt to go for the cheapest. However, is there a particular brand best for small business? At this point we are leaning towards NEC for 2400.

Wow that's a good price! The NEC DS system is perfect for the small business. Make sure you check his references!!

Partner ACS system.

Why do you want a 4 port voicemail with only 6 phones? It's on the overkill side.

I didn't think anyone really used buyerzone.com to buy a system.

CWB:

I just got back from a hard day programming & installing---this is my 17th day without a break. Please don't get offended---but I HAVE to do this. It's not my fault...it's not...my fault...it's NOT my fault.....

Thanks for you indulgence. I will never do this again. I am so sorry.

Wow, I hope you feel better now! I happen to be a psychologist so I will say that it was good that at least you prefaced your rant before the attack to prepare me.

I thank others for their feedback. This field is completely foreign to me. We thought that 4 ports were important in case 1 person was accessing vm and two others were calling and leaving vm. We did not want the phone to endlessly ring.

BTW, I used buyerzone to get local vendors to contact me. It has been great.

cweinerphd, anymore anything less than a 4 port vmail is worthless IMHO. If you are or ever plan to use Auto attendant on the voicemail 2 ports will simply never do. I haven't sold a 2 port voicemail on over 10 years simply because all the new systems come now with 4 or 8 ports standard..and for good reason.

worthless??
It really depends on how it's going to be used. CWB also said he was going cheapest, which is why I asked?

Actually, cheapest of what was offered to us; the one at $2400 has 4 port vm. We actually also have the ability to purchase an NEC elite 48 with vm and 4 phones for $700. Any opinions on going that route?
