I have a Definity G3si version 11 and Definity Audix 3.2 with ASA version R1.12.02

I log into my switch via dialup from my desk. When I log into ASA going into my switch through GEDI near the bottom under the history tab I see the following message. When I log in using Emulation and type li history this notice does not show up at all.

Severity: Warning
Description: GEDI warning: ignoring invalid PCTT message

I get this every day that I log in. I took this issue to my Avaya user group and to Mary Ponto – the head trainer on Avaya Products. No one is able to tell me what this warning message is. This started about 1 year ago and my system is working fine so I am not as worried about it as I am curious. Has anyone else seen this and know what this is? I can email a copy of the scrren capture but I can't attach it here.

Rhonda

I have not seen that message before, or maybe I just have not paid any attention. I mainly use the emulator. I will try that out on a few different switches and see. I will let you know.

Thanks Mike,

I've checked all over avaya.com and have asked every Avaya person I know. No one knows why it's happening. I used to worry about it but I have had no issues so I ignore it now. I'm getting a voicemail upgrade soon with an ASA upgrade so maybe that issue will disappear. I always tend to have unique glitches. Yea, let me know if you run across it. Rhonda

The version of ASA is older than your switch version. Some tools and GEDI commands may not be recognized. Avaya changes screen layouts and moves others around. ASA is version backward compatiable. Check the web site for a patch for your version. I need to know your complete switch software load to advise what version of ASA you should be interfacing with. This will pose no problem with emulator command line entry.

That probably explains the issue.. being version backward compatiable that is. I appreciate your assistance. I can call this in as a trouble ticket as I have full maintenance. Avaya should then handle the patch. It will give them a sence of usefullness plus it will keep me from screwing something up. Thanks again... I didn't think of the age of the ASA. Rhonda

I would upgrade to a newer version of ASA. Start there.
