quick question..does anyone know what the default PRI protocol setting is on a meridian legend? The system lost power and seems to have defaulted. I have been working with the on site vendor and proved a protocol issue. It should be set to NI2 but the on site tech is having trouble changing it (no idea why). When I change my end in the co switch to 5ess cutom the trunks come up. I set it back to NI2 which it should be is goes down. Just trying to help the vendor out, and save myself any more headaches. thanks

confused is an understatement...he also spent over an hour telling me his protocol could not be wrong, he has not made any changes (had a full power failure over the weekend.) When I changed my protocol to 5e custom ckt came up, it will work but will cause additional trouble down the line, that is actually why I was looking for the default protocol, wanted to see if it would work, so anyway I changed it back to NI2. I was then told he could not log into the system to make the change. Starting to think (more like hope) this was an end-user pretending to be a vendor. Long story short who ever it was now knows what the trouble is and what needs to be done to correct it. I got this trouble at 10:00 am today, had it isolated by 10:15 after the first d-channel trap failed. Spent the rest of the day on and off calls convincing them they had a protocol issue...so again I apologize for the post after reading it and thinking clearly for second I realized what I wrote...Thanks for moving it.. :toast:

MERLIN Legend does NOT support NI2

Your choices are:

4ESS
5ESS
DMS-250
DMS-100

4 or 5 ESS should be AT&T Custom Protocol

DMS 100 or 250 should be NTNA

5ess custom would be perfect excpet he has been running the PRI on NI2 for over a year, thats how it was ordered, tunred up, and how it has been running, again I am only going on what information the vendor provided me about the system, and I am still not convinced he was the vendor, I think he may have been an enduser trying to avoid a service call. TTT, this would explain why when I change the protocol in my switch to 5e custom all started to work again. I actually would have left it as 5e custom to match his settings and just had the prper order filed but he told me he was going to change it to NI2, any way thanks for the help guys, My ticket is cleared, the vendor needs to decide what he is going to do.

Every one I have ever done (not many)have been 5ESS. Even if the Legend had defaulted, it wouldnt have defaulted to a PRI set-up.

guys thanks for all the help the customer is back up, no idea what the vendor did on site, turns out he was not using a legend at all (GO FIGURE) never did find out what system was out their. On the other hand I was able to track down an old legend system manual in the office, so at least I know have a good reference.
