One thing to think about Trucker is a National Accounts deal with a local vendor.

You get standard pricing all over the country for installs and having the good common sense to install modems on each system means you have one central point of programming which you could easily learn to do.

Toshiba has a national accounts program and their equipment is rock solid and can be networked and has VOIP that really works.

Samsung has a national accounts program but if you are going to buy that many systems, you become a dealer after the first of January and buy it in quantity (30% off) and use the Samsung web site to find dealers to install. Put a modem in each one and program yourself. Free tech support.

If it were me, I would buy Toshiba and pay a little extra. If I were a bastard bean counter I would buy Samsung. Both will work, both are reliable and you can be easily trained to program both on a modem.

I noticed Panasonic not mentioned here. We currently have Panasonic. I'm new to phone systems and tasked to review upgrading current Panasonic or going with Nortel or other. We're a small shop (~35 phones) and the owners are happy with panasonic's reliability. Where can I find a comparison of TDA100 or 200 with Nortel. Is there a better post stream to learn this?

I may be in a little late, or already replied in the past....

But once a lover always a lover:

I love the automobile manufactures references mentioned a few times. Many times I'm proposing an ESI system up against Avaya or Nortel. I remind the prospect that in the mid 70's you were either a Ford or GM person. Toyota was just a curiosity. Equipment and service above Avaya/Nortel is everywhere. As you can see there are numerous posts from Techs that are putting their reputations in other baskets for good reasons.

service service service
#1 issue is service and availability of qualified people. Your phone is the life line of your company.

Depending on where you are in the world, plays a major factor on the equipment you choose to buy. You can toot your horn about any system you want... how good it is, how flexible, features etc., but one day it WILL fail and if you can't get timely service because there's no dealer anymore or the only dealer available can't see you for 2 weeks, you bought the wrong system for area.

There are many high quality system manufacturers out there. But bottom line is don't buy a "fringe" product.

I just so happen to live in a nortel town, where 3 out of 4 systems are nortel so I sell Nortel. Other areas are different. Other companies have tried to break into this market without much success because they have no manufacturer marketing. I could become an Intertel dealer here tomorrow (there isn't one), but I'd have a heck of time selling one.

The analogy of Toyota is irrelevant: Toyota used to make crap cars in the '70's, they changed their tune, opened dealerships everywhere and spent billions on marketing. When was the last time you saw a commercial for telecom equipment?

I love the Nortle and the Telrad lines. For the scenerio your proposing I think you could use either a Telrad or Nortel. As far as functionality the Telrad for the money is hard to beat. Althought the Nortel have added some new items. Either way the choice is yours, but don't always look at the same to lines. Their are allot of good products out their. My suggestion is check to see who has the best support. That to me is the biggest concern.
