Installed ACS 7.0 and 5 18D phones. Customer has 3 lines. On extensions 14, 17 & 18 you can be using line 1 while in conversation with a caller. During that time if a call comes in on line 2 it creates a disrupting static ring cadence into the ear piece while your talking. What I mean by static ring cadence is that during the transmission of incoming ring there is choppy static that overrides the current sound transmission. It acts like defective call waiting.

Anyone ever experience this scenario?

Problem exists both from house wiring and direct connection to processor. It acts as if the processor does not recognize the extension to be off hook.

Every time we have had this problem, it was either the processor, 206 or 308. If you only have a 509 processor, I'd be willing to bet a Rolling Rock that it's the processor!(DUH, no kidding.) Usually it's the cicuit pack that has the offending c.o.'s. (Yeah, yeah, I know cheap beer, not much of a bet, but I happen to like RR, and I expect to win!) smile John C.

Update

Replaced 5x9 processor with 3x8 processor. I thought problem would be resolved. I was wrong.

It is things like this that drive a person crazy. I always verify my own connections first before I serve the ball into another court. I conducted the following test before calling in the provider for troubleshooting.

Direct connection of line 1 to processor from Dmark.

Direct connection of line 2 to processor from Dmark.

All sets removed from processor.

Connected 18D to EXT 14 port and made test call. Problem still exists!

I'm scratching the noggin!

What if you are trying two lines plugged in into two butt sets or two single line telephones without comming into 3 x 8 ACS? Its might be Lines 1&2 have a crosstalk problems. Another thing. Sometimes after punch down there is short between pins on 66 block between pins for R of line 1 and T for line 2. Not a complete short but litle touch.
