I just installed a Partner Messaging R7 on a 5 slot R7 ACS. The customer would like to set up a call group that would ring ONLY when the 4 extensions in Hunt Group 1 are busy. I'm thinking I can create a hunt group mailbox than give them the option to select out of the mailbox, but I give........I don't see how to do it.

ANY HELP???

Hunt Groups in Partner don't give you a lot of options, including not being able to make a mailbox to cover.

Calling groups, however, are a different story. You could send the calls to 4 extensions in a Calling Group, such as 71. You can then make the group cover back to voice mailbox 71, which can take a message, and offer the 0-out option of going to Calling Group 72, which would be your backup people. Then add a mailbox for 72 as well, to take messages when they don't answer.

Finally, consider who will remember to check mailbox 71 and 72 for messages - you may want to make someone's extension the phantom receiver of those mailboxes.

What normally happens to a caller when all of the Extensions in the Hunt group are busy?

Can it force to a specific users VM?

I was under the impression that Messaging allowed for a Hunt group mailbox.

Think about how hunt groups operate. The call starts with the extension after the one that answered the last call. When all the group members are in use, the group is simply busy. Just like it you have a 2 port voice mail, the vm ports are in hunt group 7, which is busy if you already have 2 callers in there.

Calling groups ring all the extensions simultaneously, but are also subject to the transfer return rings setting, thus they can return to the extension (or voice mail port) that sent them there.

A specific users VM - No, that's why I suggest using the phantom receiver feature, the caller hears the outgoing message recoreded in mailbox 71, but the incoming message actually gets left in someone else's mailbox.

I previously had the Partner messaging selector code #5 going to 771 for the hunt Group of 4 extensions. Now that I placed the extensions in
calling group #1, I changed the selector code to 71 but I get a prompt saying extension 71 is not available.
Any ideas?

You would need to point selector code 5 or what ever to ext 71 for calling group 1 or 72 for calling group 2 and so on.

Did you also make a mailbox for 71? It won't let you transfer to an extension without a mailbox or at least transfer-only status. In your application, you need a mailbox, so the calls have something to return to.

Mike,
I am aware of that and did that. The call group works fine if I do an intercom call to 71 or 72 it's just that when I put 71 as a destination for selector code 5 I get a message saying that Extension 71 is not avaialble.
Any suggestion?

Mike, TT Tommy,
Perhpas I found my issue. The system may just be telling me extension 71 and 72 do not exist. I actually created mailboxes yesterday for both of them and had the call group on for a few hours before changing it back to it's original setting. Just for the heck of it I checked the voicemail box for 71 and 72 and there were messages from yesterday.

Not sure if it a lack of sleep or just Friday, but I just can't figiure out how to get CG#2 to hande calls if CG #1 is busy. Also need to know how to get messages into Ext 36 Voicemail if CG #1 AND CG#2 are busy.

Is tis something you can help me with here? If not here, I would be happy to talk with one of you and compensate you to get this resolved.
