It's the beginning of the end.

Sam
well last week, i accidentally had my butt set on pulse and was shocked at a place that had cable phone and it worked. so maybe my rotary phones will survive
If this plan does go through, the solution needs to:

1) Be as "plug & play" as today's POTs line service.
2) Be line powered like POTs service (if copper delivery is used).
3) Be able to interface with all of the traditional telephone systems still in use.

FiOS meets most of those criteria (no for #2 because it is uses fiber for delivery).

I have FiOS at home and my Partner ACS works quite well with it.
