Struggling back and forth with Qest, phone line going on and off. Quick question: when my line at home doesn't work, and I plug a phone into the outside network interface, there's tremendous static, but I can still barely make out a dial tone and dial. Should this network interface connection be giving a pretty crystal-clear dialtone if all is well on the phone company's end?

Appreciate your help - weeks of frustration already here!

Make sure your internal wiring is disconnected
at the network interface when you test.

Should be clear unless you have DSL, then you may hear some data, depending on your distance from the CO. If you have DSL go through a DSL filter to see if the line is clear.

Call the phone company from the box outside (NID). To speed up the service.
